Challenge Community Church
Challenge Community Church is situated in South Wye, on Belmont Road, where we offer something to all members of our community. We have friendly volunteers that run a variety of activities to suit all ages. Community is not just at the heart of our name, it is at the heart of our church life too and we seek to reach out and support the community around us.
Storehouse is one of the services Challenge Community Church offer, this is a ministry in which we provide groceries to those in need. People in need of support can be referred to the church by a professional intermediary and receive groceries within 24 hours. During the Covid pandemic, we have and continue to support many people in practical ways, including collecting prescriptions and doing shopping for those that are unable to leave their homes.
Open House is our weekly drop in coffee morning, every Thursday 10am to 12pm, which is open to everyone and where people can enjoy a hot drink and delicious cakes. This will also host our Talk Community Hub session, where our friendly volunteers will be on hand to help you connect to activities and groups and help you find out about services.
Neighbourhood Chaplains are trained volunteers, who are willing to visit you at your home (Covid restrictions permitting), if you are feeling isolated, lonely or you need a bit of practical help.
Koffee and Kids is our weekly Parent and Toddler Group for all parents and carers with children under the age of five. We offer a good range of play and craft activities for children to enjoy, along with a snack and drink. Parents and carers can enjoy a hot drink as well. Our Talk Community Hub volunteers are also available at this session, so they can help you to find out about anything you might need to know.
Friday Night Youth Groups offer a time to run off steam and play games, followed by a tuck shop. To mix it up, we have various different nights throughout the term, such as cinema night, quiz night and talent nights.
Who Let The Dads Out is a chance for all dads, granddads, uncles and father figures to spend time with their children, enjoying bacon butties, playing pool and table football, producing craft work and just enjoying being together. This is held on the last Saturday of each month.
Sunday Worship is the focal point of all that we do and is both informal, yet also respectful of the God whom we are worshipping. Teaching is presented in a way that is understandable and easy to apply to your daily life. Children join us for the first part of the service, before enjoying learning together in age specific groups.
Whether you have many years of church experience or none at all, you are a biblical scholar or have never opened a Bible in your life, you are rich or poor, employed, unemployed or retired, able bodied or physically challenged, young, old or somewhere in between, you will be made to feel welcome, valued and loved. Our ‘Mission Statement’ is simply: “To bring people to Jesus and equip them for service in His world”.
Please keep an eye on our calendar for activities or visit the Talk Community Directory what's on calendar.
