Local support

National support

A Cold Weather Payment could be available if you receive certain benefits.  A payment of £25 is provided for each consecutive seven day period of very cold weather in your local area (normally zero degrees Celsius or below) between 1 November and 31 March.

Ofgem offer independent, impartial advice on household gas and electricity, including how you can save money on your energy bills, shopping for a better deal and switching your energy supplier.

The Priority Services Register is a free service provided by energy suppliers and networks for vulnerable customers or those in need.  To find out more, please contact your energy supplier(s) directly.

Scope offer free energy advice to disabled people to help you manage your energy needs, including switching tariffs or supplier, accessing energy benefits or grants, managing energy debt and understanding your bills and heating systems.

The Warm Home Discount Scheme could help you to reduce your electricity or gas bill by £140 this winter.  The one-off discount is paid directly to your energy supplier for your bill dated between September and March.

A Winter Fuel Payment of between £100 and £300 could be available to help pay your heating bills, if you were born before 23 September 1958.

Your energy supplier(s) may be able to help, if you’re behind with your energy bill(s) or in fuel debt.  They can also help you fit a free smart meter, which could save you money on your energy bills, by removing the need for meter readings and estimated billing.  They can also check that you’re on the best energy tariff possible, to ensure you’re only paying what you need to.  To find out more, please contact your energy supplier(s) directly.

* Please note there may be eligibility criteria attached to these schemes.
