Community Safety Partnership

The Herefordshire Community Safety Partnership works to improve the safety and wellbeing of the county’s residents and visitors and encourages communities, villages and towns to become more involved in making where they live even safer.

The partnership comprises seven partner organisations from across the county, including Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service, Herefordshire Clinical Commissioning Group, Herefordshire Council and West Mercia Police, and it works to address a number of different areas, including:

  • Bringing offenders to account and cutting levels of re-offending
  • Addressing the harm caused by domestic abuse and violence
  • Minimising the impact of drugs and alcohol on communities
  • Promoting community togetherness and cutting anti-social behaviour
  • Helping keep people safe on the county's roads

If you’d like to find out more about the work of the partnership, please visit Herefordshire Council’s website

Anti-social behaviour

Anti-social behaviour (ASB) relates to unacceptable behaviour, which could cause harassment, alarm or distress to others.  There are many different forms of ASB, including:

  • Verbal abuse or harassment
  • Excessive noise or the misuse of fireworks
  • Alcohol related behaviour
  • Large groups using threatening or intimidating behaviour
  • Vandalism or graffiti
  • Littering, dumping rubbish or dog fouling
  • Abandoned vehicles, illegal parking or joy riding

There’s additional ASB related information, including how to report it, on Herefordshire Council's website.

Hate crime

A hate crime is when someone is verbally and / or physically abused, intimidated, victimised or harassed, because of their race, faith, religion, disability or sexuality.  Anyone can be a victim of hate crime, it doesn’t just happen to people from minority communities.  It’s a criminal offence, so if you see something, don’t look away and ignore it, please report it straight away.

To find out more about hate crime and how you can report it, please visit Herefordshire Council’s website.

Preventing extremism (Prevent)

Prevent is about safeguarding people and communities from the threat of terrorism and forms one of the four elements of the government's counter-terrorism strategy, CONTEST.

Although acts of terrorism in Herefordshire are thought unlikely, it’s always best to never be too complacent about the potential threat.

If you’d like to find out more about Prevent, including available local training, please take a look at Herefordshire Council’s website.

Reporting crime anonymously
