Pharmacy First
Community pharmacists are able to provide you with advice and if appropriate a medicines supply on an increasing number of conditions where you have the choice to visit the Pharmacy First for a consultation regardless of where you live.
The NHS Pharmacy First service allows pharmacists to provide advice and where appropriate medicines for these additional conditions:
- Earache (aged 1 to 17 years)
- Impetigo (aged 1 year and over)
- Infected insect bites (aged 1 year and over)
- Shingles (aged 18 years and over)
- Sinusitis (aged 12 years and over)
- Sore throats (aged 5 years and over)
- Urinary tract infections (UTIs in women (aged 16 to 64 years)
The Pharmacy First service can also provide free Blood pressure checks (for people aged over 40 - it's important to know your numbers!) and Contraception services.
Visit the NHS website to find your nearest pharmacy offering these services.
If you have symptoms that suggest you may have one of these conditions, you can walk into a pharmacy and be offered a consultation with a pharmacist in a private consultation room.
