Learning disability
If you have a learning disability this can affect the way you understand information and how you communicate. This means you may have difficulty understanding new or complex information, learning new skills or coping independently.
Local support
Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust has a Community Learning Disability Team, which provide specialist health care services for people with learning disabilities, to enable and support them to participate in daily activities and maintain or increase their level of independence.
Herefordshire Disability United is a voice for disabled people and provides an opportunity to speak out on local and national disability issues.
Herefordshire Mencap is a local charity which campaigns and raises awareness for people with learning disabilities and their families.
The Learning Disability Partnership Board for Herefordshire meet several times a year to discuss the work that is going on to help people with learning disabilities and to provide a voice for those with disabilities to help design local services. If you'd like further information on the board, please contact Paul Choppen, Partnership Board Assistant, by e-mailing pchoppen@herefordshire.gov.uk or calling 01432 261877.
