Adult and community learning
Learning something new can not only boost your confidence, but it's also a really good way to meet new people. It could help with increasing your job prospects or maybe you just want to learn a new skill or would like to try something a bit different.
As an adult, it can be hard going back into education, particularly if you have a family, a health problem or disability or if you're caring for someone. However, there's a number of different ways to get back into education and training, which are specifically tailored for adult learners.
There's a wide range of adult education classes run by local colleges, including short courses and evening classes. The majority of courses will charge fees, but it's always best to get funding advice directly from the college, if there's a particular course you're interested in. Find a college near you on our sixth form, college and university page.
If attending college on a regular basis doesn't work for you, then distance learning could be a better option, as it enables you to study at home and in your own time. Your local college will be able to provide more details on their distance learning courses.
