The cost of living has squeezed household budgets meaning many households have struggled to afford healthy food options. We have brought together some information about support and initiatives that help to promote healthy communities and reduce food poverty across Herefordshire.
Community
The Herefordshire Food Alliance is a network of groups, organisations and individuals working towards and a thriving and sustainable local food economy which contributes to a healthy lifestyle, community and environment. Keep an eye on their website for sharing events that celebrate and use local sustainable food.
Growing Local organise community lunches in Hereford, bringing people together to cook and eat with one another. There are a number of lunch clubs listed on the Talk Community Directory.
Support for families
If you’re over 10 weeks pregnant or have a child under the age of 4 and in receipt of certain benefits, you could be eligible for a Healthy Start Card to help you buy healthy food and milk.
Talk Community are continuing to support local organisations to deliver Winter of Wellbeing Activities throughout the coming months. All sessions include family friendly activities and hot food (all free of charge!). New sessions are regularly being added to the programme so please keep checking the website for updated information and new events. The Winter of Wellbeing sessions are made possible with funding from the Department for Work and Pensions.

The Household Support Fund
