Managing your family’s finances can be stressful. It’s important to remember that anyone can have money worries or fall into debt, for all kinds of reasons.
 
If you’re struggling, it’s important to remember you’re not alone, and there’s lots of great local and national advice and support available.

Turn2us is a national charity which helps people who are struggling financially. They have a number of funds and grants available, which you may be eligible to apply for.

We’ve put together some tips below, to help you stay on top of things.
 

Top tips

  • Look at what you're spending your money on each month, this will help you plan a budget. 
  • Make a plan. You can use the Herefordshire Council budgeting tool free of charge.
  • Check that you're getting all of the financial support that you're entitled to using the Better Off tool (free to Herefordshire residents).
  • If you're worrying about your financial situation, talk to someone. There's plenty of help available locally and nationally - see the support section below. 

Bromyard Food Bank and Money Advice Centre provide free debt advice and support for people who may be struggling with debt or other money concerns.

 Citizens Advice Herefordshire provide free information on budgeting, debt solutions and benefits.

Keep Herefordshire Warm can provide information and advice if you are struggling with your energy bills. 

Ledbury Debt Centre offer free debt advice and support to help people who may be experiencing debt or other money problems. They also offer the free CAP Money Course, which can help teach you money management skills, including budgeting, saving and preventing debt.

Leominster Community Money Advice Centre offer free and confidential advice, to help you consider the different options available if you’re experiencing money worries, you’re in debt or need assistance with budgeting. 

South Wye Community Money Advice Centre based at Putson Baptist Church in Hereford, offer free, confidential advice and practical support for people experiencing money problems, including budgeting and money management skills.

Christians Against Poverty offer free local CAP Money Courses, which can help teach you money management skills, including budgeting, saving and preventing debt.

Citizens Advice have a useful budget calculator

Money Helper provide free and impartial money advice, along with a number of online tools, such as a budget planner and mortgage calculator.
