Best start for life
Studies show that the first 1001 days in a child’s life is a critical time for development. Babies rely on their parents or carers to provide a healthy and nurturing environment in which they can grow and learn.
In the early days many families need a bit of help in their journey into parenthood and advice and guidance to give their babies the best start in life. This could be from family, friends, healthcare professionals, community providers or a wide range of support services.
However, it is not always easy for families to access information about what support is available. This can make it hard for families who are juggling the demands of caring for a baby to find the support they need when they need it.
Top Tips
- Accept that it will take a bit of time for you and your baby to adjust, try not to strive for perfection (there is no such thing!)
- Work out what works best for you and your family. Try not to feel pressured by what others parents are doing.
- Ask for help when you need it. Having a baby can be really stressful as you get to know your little one and adapt to life with them. Be kind to yourself, and ask friends, family or your local community groups for the help you need.
