ADHD
Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a condition that can influence a person’s behaviour or responses. People with ADHD may appear restless, have trouble concentrating and might act on impulse. In children symptoms of ADHD tend to be noticed at an early stage of development. Symptoms can become more noticeable when there is a change in a child’s circumstances, such as starting school. You can read more about ADHD symptoms on the NHS website.
The three main qualities that could be indicators of ADHD are:
- Hyperactivity-having a lot of energy and tending to move around a lot and fidget.
- Impulsivity-acting without thinking and not thinking of consequences
- Inattention-struggling to concentrate and perhaps having poor memory skills
